Drainage works are undertaken (guard gutters, underpasses, fords, overpasses, inlets, sewer upgrades); the repair of siphons; the repair of tunnels (cleaning, reinforcement of slab, vault lining, drains, nozzles); the residual cleaning in the canal; the repair of slabs and boxes; waterproofing and joint treatments; Covering of channel sections with slab; and finally, heightening of the section. A new tunnel of 1,600.16 m is also constructed to suppress a section of the canal located on an unstable slope; a drain that allows a 100 m gap between the canal and outlet, protecting the slope by means of a gabion wall: a new weir at the foot of the dam allows the release, if necessary, of a flow of 72 m3/s. Likewise, a modernization of the exploitation and control of the canal is undertaken through the replacement of the current intake systems, automation and remote control thereof, including the construction of a control center. The other key point of the work aims to facilitate the access and maintenance of the channel through conditioning of the different service roads. This is achieved by cleaning and improving access and the new roads and the execution of safety and signaling works.
