SCOPE OF THE WORKS

The project involves two separate activities

    1. The dualling of track and rail electrification of the stretch of TRAM line running from the Costera Pastor station in the town of Villajoyosa to the end of the recently completed track section, located approximately 400m before the Benidorm station.

    2. Rehabilitation of the whole of the Villajoyosa station and reconditioning of the urban environment.

WORKS DESCRIPTION

The length of the target section is around 8.5 Km distinguishing between the following subsections

  • The execution of the first subsection consists of the development of a layout as a variant of the current line (double track), allowing the future development of road works included in the current General Urban Development Plan of the town of Villajoyosa, such as the Boulevard Villajoyosa access to the old N-332 trunk road and the “Vía Parque” bypass
  • The second subsection runs from the end of subsection 1 and Hospital Vila Station. The initiatives included in this subsection consist of widening the existing platform to be able to dual the track and the execution of the superstructure of the second track (ballast, sleepers and rails). The dualling is carried out alongside the existing track, except for the overpass over the Torres river where a variant layout has been planned with a bridge parallel to the existing one
  • The third subsection runs between the Hospital Vila Station and the overpass over the Murtal ravine. In this subsection, with the exception of the bridge over the Murtal ravine, the platform is already in place and is wide enough to accommodate the double track, so that works may be carried out on the superstructure of the second track alongside the existing track (ballast, sleepers and rails).
